MUSIC VIDEO DIRECTOR & CAMERA OPERATOR
My name is Caelin and I’m a filmmaker based in Toronto, ON.
I direct music videos and am a camera operator. Two music videos I’ve produced, directed, shot and edited have been accepted into the National Film Festival for Talented Youth (NFFTY) in Seattle, and in 2019 my body of work surpassed 1.4 million views.
I’ve had the privilege to dedicate myself to film (13 years), music (6 years), and dance (8 years). Studying all three has provided me with a rare and intimate understanding of the relationship between storytelling, motion, and audio-visual exactness. These components are integral to my style as a filmmaker, which has also been shaped by genres like pop, rap, and (especially) electronic music. When people connect with my films, they often note the camera motion and presence of a storyline.

ON MUSIC VIDEOS
Music videos are the epitome of the three things I know best in this world. I believe each music video should be unique, fit the timing and energy of the song, and that there should be a reason for the audience to watch until the end. When done correctly, I love that they create a universe for the song to exist in, allowing music to transcend into the visual realm.
ON CAMERAWORK
The camera manipulates the audience’s perspective by hinting at, accentuating, or hiding information. The correct lens, angle and motion can make an action larger, a joke funnier, a nuance heavier by guiding viewers’ attention towards specific details. Presently, each video on this website is an example of my camerawork, including all works featured under “Directing”.
ON EDITING
Every shot is like a word: many are functional, but some are more specific than others. How you arrange them is like grammar - there are several ways you can say the same thing, but some results are vague or confusing. It’s possible for those images to be arranged so precisely that your audience understands exactly what’s going on.
